Getting Around
|
How much planning ahead you want to do is up to you. Some people like to go with a specific
day by day itinerary. Others like to just select a route and see where they go along the way.
Planning an itinerary is a great way t ensure to see all the things and places that you set out to
see. It will cost you a bit in terms of flexibility, but many travelers prefer this approach. If you
want to plan out an itinerary its very important to be practical about it. It’s easy to get into a
mindset of having to see too many places to be able to fit them in. Don’t forget about transit
time too. If you give yourself three days in Paris followed by three in Rome, keep in mind you’
re losing most of a day of each in transit.
If you plan by the route, you get a lot more flexibility, but may not see all the places you had in
mind. A good approach to planning a route is to start with the city you fly into and finish with
the city you fly out of. Then draw a line of the places you can get to readily along the way. You
are just setting a course with waypoints to stop at.
In either case, just be practical in your expectations. Don’t push yourself so hard that you don’
t have fun. I recommend even taking a little vacation in the middle for a break. Plop down on a
beach or something for a few days.
